Recently I had someone return a dog to me because they realized since they work all day, it would not be fair to have a small house dog like a chihuahua. Even though chihuahuas are the smallest dogs in the world, they still need fresh air, sunshine and exercise. If there is no one home at your house during the day, either arrange for someone to let your dog outside for a time in the sun and fresh air or make a safe place outside for your dog while you are away. Make sure the safe place is shaded from the elements and secure enough to keep your dog in as well as other dogs out. Another suggestion for a dog who is alone for 8 or more hours a day is to have two so each of these very social dogs will have a companion with which to play, cuddle and sniff. This will help keep these house dogs from being a nuisance or getting into mischief due to boredom.   

   

Born on December 11, 2011 to AKC Ehu and AKC Buster, E Hershey had a difficult start.  This was his mom’s first litter and whelping was one week early.  He did not suck and mom was unable to birth the second puppy without chemical intervention.  But within one week of human care, both were on track and today at 4 weeks old, E Hershey is a sturdy 15 ounces.  He is starting to spend some daylight hours away from mom and eating milky, puppy food.  He will have his vet exam between 6 and 8 weeks old.

   MEET PEANUT’S PUPS!   Born on 04/18/2011 to AKC Peanut and AKC Ke’oke’o are Peanut Butter, who weighs a little over 2 pounds and her littermate, Dark Cocoa, who weighs under 5 pounds. They are both socialized and paper trained.  Peanut Butter is likely to stay under 3 pounds and would not be suitable for breeding.  She is very shy but would warm up to one loving human companion.  Dark Cocoa is nice and sturdy and has a playful personality.  $695 without papers and $895 with AKC papers.       MEET COWBOY & COWGIRL

These two gorgeous puppies are ready for their new homes.  Cowboy – now 10 months old weighs under 5 pounds and is estimated to be between 5-5.5 pounds as an adult. He is white with a couple of tinted spots near his tail. He has a very loving personality and loves to give lots of kisses. Cowboy is outgoing but not aggressive. Like many of my chihuahuas, he only barks to alert and is not yappy or people shy.

Cowgirl – she weighs 4.03 pounds and is estimated to be between 4.5-5 pounds as an adult. She is a blue-fawn color. She is more on the reserved side than her brother. Cowgirl would be easy to train as a lap dog because she would rather sit in your lap than investigate her surrounds. I’ve never heard her bark.  $395

   MEET SWEET STUFF!

Born on 12/03/2010 to AKC Stormy and AKC Ke’oke’o is one little female named SWEET STUFF. She is likely to be around 5-6 pounds as an adult. She is definitely a rough and tumble chihuahua suitable for a family with children who would like to train her to fetch and do tricks. Sweet Stuff has a significant under-bite that makes her face look like a miniature bullddog. The under-bite doesn’t interfere with her in anyway but she probably should not be used for breeding so she is available without papers for $195.
